Psalm 46

1 God is our refuge and strength,
    a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change,
    though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam,
    though the mountains tremble with its tumult. Selah

4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy habitation of the Most High.
5 God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved;
    God will help it when the morning dawns.
6 The nations are in an uproar; the kingdoms totter;
    he utters his voice; the earth melts.
7 The Lord of hosts is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our refuge.

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord;
    see what desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
    he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
    he burns the shields with fire.
10 “Be still, and know that I am God!
    I am exalted among the nations;
    I am exalted in the earth.”
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our refuge.

God is here for you!!

Life can often feel overwhelming and heavy. We carry burdens, balance challenges, and worry about the well-being of those we love and those we have never met. In the midst of caring for others, we may forget to pause and care for our own hearts and spirits.

Psalm 46 reminds us that even when the world around us feels uncertain, God remains our refuge, strength, and source of peace. Care for ourselves includes the willingness to listen without judgment towards ourselves and others. We can always offer something meaningful through compassion, understanding, and a caring presence even when life feels heavy. Offering comfort without conditions is at the heart of Christian love.

Taking the time to be still is important. It allows us a moment to remember that we can rely on God. Stillness gives us an opportunity to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with God. It allows us a moment to remember that we are always held in love. Take a moment today to pause. Breathe deeply and gently release the tension you may be carrying.

Consider where you may need comfort or support. Caring for your spirit is not selfish. Caring for your spirit helps you remain grounded and present for those who depend on you.
